Technology Integration

We now have a great deal of technology in all buildings. Please go to www.etech.ohio.gov/programs/interview/shaffner.jsp and read some of Marian Shaffner's information on technology integration. After reflection, please respond to the following questions:

1. Where do you see yourself in the area of technology integration?

2. Where do you see your colleagues?

3. What...

Technology Integration

1. Where do you see yourself in the area of technology integration?
I FEEL I AM AT OR NEAR THE TOP OF THE DISTRICT AS FAR AS USING TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM.

2. Where do you see your colleagues?
MOSTLY IN THE HALLS AND AT OUR WONDERFUL EARLY RELEASE DAYS..... I FEEL BROOKSIDE IS LIMITED. WE DON'T HAVE A WORKING COMPUTER LAB. HALF OF THE COMPUTERS IN THE LIBRARY DON'T WORK? MANY...

Technology Integration

How do you use your Smartboard in your class Scott? What applications do you use? Do you do distance learning on the Samrtboard?

It is troubling to hear that you are having lab problems. I have experienced setbacks like that before. Sometimes the best lesson that gets through to the students turns out to be one that you have to scrap because of poor or unavailable resources.

Technology Integration

Please gear your response toward where you see yourself in regards to technology integration not technology use. Also use the terms and conditions used in the interviews that you listened to prior to responding.

Technology Integration

I listened to several of the Shaffner interviews in your first posting. I would like to respond to your three questions attached to this posting.

1. In the area of technology integration I see myself in the middle of my peers. There are several teachers in this district that are heads and shoulders beyond me in their use of technology in the classroom. I feel that I use technology often,...

Assessment for Learning

This year we have begun looking at assessment for learning. This includes analyzing data, writing student-friendly goals, and creating formative assessments. Please reflect on this year's experiences and answer the following questions:

1. Where are you in this process?

2. Where would you like to be in this process by the end of next year?

3. What experiences and/or professional...

Student assessment

The most important aspect of student assessment, as far as I am concerned is knowing your students strengths and weaknessses completely. I realise as a special education teacher that this is easier for me in that I have fewer students to concentrate on, but my asssessments are based on their abilities, not some formalised test. This is true on a daily basis, as well as, when I give them weekly tests...

Student assessment

Please reply to all three questions especially regarding how you are doing writing I Can statements that your students would understand and be able to judge progress by. Also, as an old special education teacher, why do you feel that solving math problems without the use of the calculator is an important skill for high school students?

Assessment for Learning

By the end of next year I would like to be able to better prepare my students for the OGT, espicially in terms of motivating my students to realise its importance, so that they may bettter prepare on thier own. Any classes or seminars that could help me to do this would be of interest to me.

Assessment for Learning

I feel that every student needs to be able to devolpe problem solving and thinking skills that will help them later in life with everyday situations. For example, creating and using a personal budget. Being able to do basic math in their heads, i.e. 7x4, 35 divided by 5, is important because it improves thier self esteem, as well as, gives them the practice of solving problems independently without...

Assessment for Learning

I Can may be a philosophy but in the context of the current professional development around Assessment for Learning the I Can statements are specifically around meeting the grade level indicators. There is no grade level indicator at any level that deals with solving math facts in your head. I would also ask you to consider how continuing to force a process that these students have been unsuccessful...

Professional Development

Please read the attached professional development standards. These standards, adopted at the end of last year, regulate how a district is to provide professional development for its staff. Please reflect and comment on the following questions:
1. What is different between these standards and the current practices of providing professional development?
2. If you were on next year's professional development...

Professional Development

1. What is different between these standards and the current practices of providing professional development? DON'T HAVE TIME TO READ 81 PAGES ON INTERNET.

2. If you were on next year's professional development committee, what data would you recommend that the committee collect to make its decisions?
GIVE THE TEACHERS ACTIVITIES THEY CAN USE AND THAT ARE MEANINGFUL. SITTING IN PROFESSIONAL...

I'm sorry, Scott, but if you want credit for participating, you will need to read the standards and gear your answers to the standards. I do appreciate your input, however, and encourage you to continue to participate even if it isn't for credit.
