The language arts committee has worked hard to put a summer reading program in place for the Sheffield students. This summer we are excited to launch this summer reading initiative with the hopes of accomplishing the following:
* encourage student reading for pleasure
* increase reading comprehension, writing, and vocabulary skills
* help students transition from summer to the new school year
Each work was selected to complement the current reading selections in each course. The high school department will be referring to the summer reading texts throughout the school year.
You may view the high school language arts requirements on the Brookside website.
Additionally, we are also excited to host our second annual kick off to summer reading at the Barnes and Noble Book Store at Crocker Park. This will be a day to highlight Sheffield-Sheffield Lake student work which will be displayed throughout the store, Mrs. Andrea Stell and the Hummingbirds will sing, the Young Authors will be highlighted and much, much more! Don't miss it on May 20th, 2010 9am-10pm
Max and Erma's Restaurant is partnering with Barnes and Noble to donate proceeds to the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake City School District
