AP Government/ Federalist Papers
The Federalist Papers play an important role in U.S. History and they are a big part of the AP Government class. At the bottom of the Links category, you will find a link that will take you to the Federalist Papers. No.10 and no.51 are the two sections that usually produce a few questions on the AP Government test.

Labor Unions made it possible for the average worker to make more $ and have more free time to spend it. The Labor movement's efforts combined with programs of The New Deal and The G.I Bill after WWII helped create today's consumer based middle class culture.

Locke's ideas influenced the American and French Revolutions, which spread the radical idea that people had rights or in other words the Monarch didn't have the absolute power to impose laws without the permission of the people. Everytime you think your rights are being violated, and that you have the right to stand up for your freedoms, thank John Locke.
The Enlightenment
The idea that people had certain "God Given" freedoms. The Enlightenment was also tied to the Scientific Revolution in that the Enlightenment thinkers tried to use science to discover the best political system, for example The Social Contract. The Social Contract was an an agreement between the the ruled and the rulers about who had what rights, for example, the government can't just impose a tax on the people arbitrialy, they must have the people's permission first. That's why we vote on tax levys for schools, sin taxes to build new football stadiums, and elect representatives who vote on national taxes.

This is the idea the Americans have a right and duty to conquer the North American continent. This idea is tied to the idea of White Man's Burden, which states that white men are the only cultured people in the world and they have a duty to civilize all the savages of the world.
