| | State Symbols Project is Due | Please remember that your child has a project due on Monday, January 5, 2008.
In Social Studies we are discussing state symbols. Each child has selected a state to research. You child is responsible for locating the symbols for the state he or she selected. | | Accelerated Reader | Again this year, your child is participating in the Accelerated Reading Program. This program helps support our classroom reading program and helps your child to continue to develop his/her reading skills.
We have already taken our Star Reading Assessment Test and your child's "Reading Range" is written in the back of his/her planner. Accelerated Reading steps are as follows: 1) The student selects a book within his/her reading range; 2) The student carefully reads the selected book; 3) The student then takes a computer test answering a variety of questions about the book; 4) The student's test score is recorded and points are added to the students record; 5) As points are accumulated, the student's name is entered into a level in the Accelerated Reading Book Club. Your child's goal is to accumulate points to move up to the next level in the point club. | | STUDY ISLAND | Study Island is an excellent way to help your child continue to develop reading and math skills.
Study Island is accessed through the Internet at the link listed below. Please encourage your child to work on Study Island at home. | | Cursive Handwriting Link | Listed below you will find a link to a cursive handwriting site.
You can click on the individual letter and watch as it is being
