Hello Tennyson Parents and Students! School is ready to start in a very short time and Tennyson has a new principal. I’m Gretchen Loper and can’t wait to meet all of you and start another successful school year. Just a little bit about me- I feel as though I’m coming back home. I grew up in Vermilion, however my husband and I raised our family in Wilmington, Ohio where I started my teaching career. I taught third and sixth grade with the Wilmington School District until I became the principal of Martinsville Elementary and then East End School, both K-5 buildings, within the Wilmington district. After six years as principal, I was offered a new position with the Oakwood School District, near Dayton, at Harman School where I have been for the last nine years. Harman currently has 490 students in grades 1-6 and has been designated an Excellent School by the state of Ohio for the past nine years. Three years ago, my husband, Dave, was relocated to northern Ohio and I have been commuting back and forth between Dayton and Vermilion on weekends during that time. Also during that time our son, David, and daughter, Kate, bought homes in the area. This year it was time for me to join my family again and I was fortunate enough to be offered the position at Tennyson. I am eager to join with you and the Tennyson staff in continuing the tradition of excellence in education at Tennyson. I am committed to our children and their success. I also look forward to meeting you on Visitation Day, August 25, and during Open House on September 10th. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to stop by the school office after August 18 and I will be happy to help you in any way I can. Looking forward to this coming school year and meeting all of you. Sincerely, Gretchen Loper | |
